2010 Teams & Their All Time Ranks

Out of 180 MLS team seasons from 1996-2010 (shootouts counted as draws):

Overall/Home/Away Tables

(ranked by PPG, then GD per game, then GF per game)

Overall Home Away
LA 4 57 3
RSL 10 4 49
NY 29 23 50
DAL 32 43 36
CLB 34 22 60
SEA 46 84 31
COL 54 53 72
SJ 56 121 25
KC 110 113 92
CHI 135 160 71
TOR 142 119 141
HOU 154 147 128
NE 157 120 164
PHI 158 115 168
CHV 168 155 161
DC 175 178 129

For the actual records, I will soon update this page. The 2010 Los Angeles Galaxy rank as the 4th best team in league history, while 2010 Real Salt Lake also makes the top ten. However, that's not the only top ten pair of teams in the ranking: 2001 Miami and Chicago rank 2nd & 5th, and 1998 DC and LA are 1st & 6th.

Each team's rank in their own history:

LA 2nd out of 15 seasons
RSL 1st out of 6 seasons
NY 1st out of 15 seasons
DAL 2nd out of 15 seasons
CLB 3rd out of 15 seasons
SEA 1st out of 2 seasons
COL 3rd out of 15 seasons
SJ 5th out of 13 seasons
KC 10th out of 15 seasons
CHI 12th out of 13 seasons
TOR 2nd out of 4 seasons
HOU 5th out of 5 seasons
NE 12th out of 15 seasons
PHI 1st out of 1 season
CHV 5th out of 6 seasons
DC 15th out of 15 seasons

With the final game win against New England, New York ended up with their best season ever over 2000. A draw wouldn't have done it. Three other teams had their best ever seasons, though they're all recent expansion teams.

DC United and Houston ended up with their worst ever teams by a good margin.

GD/GF/GA per game

GD GF GA
LA 14 78 3
RSL 2 65 1
NY 42 131 8
DAL 25 96 6
CLB 53 114 27
SEA 61 125 36
COL 29 78 16
SJ 82 155 22
KC 82 144 36
CHI 102 138 52
TOR 132 161 67
HOU 138 114 132
NE 168 165 141
PHI 157 151 132
CHV 157 168 97
DC 175 180 122

DC had the worst offense in league history, while RSL had the best defense. I think the numbers need to be adjusted for each season, because the early years of MLS had a large amount of goals per game.
